Homestead Elementary School Reviews

I think this is an amazing school. I was a teacher myself and now have two kids at Homestead. One of my children's has special needs and I've had nothing but total cooperation on what she needs to be successful. I think it's what you make it! Get involved, keep good communication with the teacher and show them you are in this together for the kids. Lots of options for after school programs and super involved parents! We feel blessed to be at Homestead!

This school is exceptional. Everyone from the principals to whole staff are great with the kids. My son has attended for a 1 year and all his teacher where absolutely wonderful. I have to commend his teacher Mrs. Jackie Ware, she was so wonderful with him and patient. She also connects very well with the parents and wants nothing but the best for her students.

I have a ten year old here and she has been there three years now. This is the first year I am hppy with her teacher. The first two years both teachers were very strict by the rules and left no room for mistakes. They did not interact with the parents and put all the responsibility on the child. I agree 100% I think the office staff is rude! My youngest has been lucky with great teachers for her three years she has been there.

I am moving before the end of this year and am counting down the days to get out of this school. It has been problem after problem. I agree with the other issues regarding the principal/vice principal. I also agree that if your child is perfect, you have no problems, but if you have a normal 5-6 year old boy, boy do you have issues. I feel that this school is far more concerned with rules than they are the welfare of the child.

This school is highly overrated. It's great if you have 'normal' student; but if he/she has 'special needs'; forget it. Principal makes promises she doesn't keep.

Super school with caring teachers and parents but I agree with the 2005 comment about the office staff and will include the principal to the list. My dealings with her were she listened to your side but always gave the teacher full support regardless of the parent concern.

Homestead is a super school. We have 3 children there now and could not be more pleased. The academic programs are super as are the special programs for special needs. Parents are heavily involved and encouraged to be so. The specials include: computer lab, PE, music, creative dramatics and art.

Very high quality education - fun, experienced, dedicated teachers. Parents highly involved and kids enjoying school. Lots of opportunity to be involved, but once they get you (the PTA), you're in for life! Discipline is age-appropriate, with lots of emphasis on parent-teacher communication.

Academically the school seems slightly above average and they provide a quality education. They have all available extracurricular activities and their teaching staff and facilities do appear to be above average. As for the office administrative staff, this area needs some work. From talking with other parents that have children at Homestead, I am not alone on my thinking on this. The office staff seems to be rude and bossy and shows no flexibility or sincere concern for the children. Their focus seems to be more on making the rules that they want and enforcing them 100%. For example: I called to inform the school that my child had a head injury and was going to be out another day (3 total). The only comment was she will need a note to return to school, make sure you do that. This is unacceptable and will not be tolerated anymore!
