Forman Elementary School Reviews

This is my 8th year at Forman and each year I find something new that I love about our school. The staff gives of themselves each and everyday to ensure academic, social, & emotional growth and success of each and every student. We are truly a family who in tough times will pull together to get the job done FOR KIDS!

Forman is a great place to work and learn! Each teacher, administrator, and parent are here for the students!

Forman Elementary has an atmosphere that demonstrates caring from both teachers and students. We all work together to better the lives of the students. Working here is so rewarding because you are truly able to touch someone's life everyday.

Forman is not just a school, it is both a community and an extended family for staff and students and parents.

Students here can excel despite socioeconomic issues in their lives.

For ten years I have worked for Forman Elementary. I have never seen such a dedicated group of staff determined to do whatever it takes for our students. Many of our students come to us with a disadvantage in life experiences. Forman does an outstanding job providing fieldtrip opportunities and bringing in speakers to expand our students knowledge. Forman has also made community partnerships with local businesses to help pay for some of our programs that otherwise our children would not get to experience. These are just a couple of things at how Forman provides for its students; but it is nothing compared to what our students provide to us, satisfaction and confirmation that we are making a difference.

I have had 4 children at Forman. One is currently in first grade, and one in 5th grade. We do have a 9 year old that we took out of school this year (she has special needs - and the staff really did a great job with her, but ultimately, home school is best for her right now). I would give it 5 stars - as grades K through 3 have very good teachers. However, I have found that after 4th grade, the teachers seem to be more focused on worrying about TAKS than educating the kids. I find this the fault of the system, not the teachers themselves. The Principal, Ms. Tran is always very approachable. The Resource Teachers there as well as the Speech Therapists they have on staff are excellent. The PACE teacher, though, Ms. Patrick, is the shining star of the school.

There is no motivation at this school. Much of the staff seems to have attitudes towards parents, everything is very disorganized, they havent even updated their website since 2006. The administration at this school has set the tone for the failure, disobedience, and disenfranchisement of its students. As soon as possible, I am taking my children from the area.

I feel like this school focuses more on diversity than education.

This is our first year at Forman and overall, we are quite pleased with the quality of education our students have received. The teachers are caring and effective communicators with parents. I have read some of the previous reviews concerning administration and front office staff. We have NEVER had any of those same concerns. I can understand parent frustrations, but I wanted to let the readers know it is not the common persepctive. We are proud of our kids and the many wonderful experiences they have at Forman.

My son has attended this school for 3 years and I haven't seen any improvement in the quality of education nor the issues he is faced with. I agree with the previous reviewer that 'a wide variety of cultural, social, and economic differences' exists, however I don't feel that this is the root of the problem. While I feel there are a handful of truly dedicated teachers, there seems to be a disconnect with members of the staff, the school administration, and the parents. Also, there is little if any parental support or involvement in PTA activities and fundraisers. I lost a wonderful neighbor and friend, who moved to another district because of the problems her children were having here. I hate to give up on this school, but feel it's unfair to my child to continue subjecting him to what I believe to be a subpar school environment.

Forman is an awful school. The teachers are wonderful with the students but they have no support from the administration. The students are in charge of the school because they know nothing will happen to them and they can do what ever they want. The principals and others in charge do not have any clue how to discipline children or to give proper consequences. I am intending on pulling my child out of that school because of the aggressive nature of the other students and the fact that the principals do not hold them responsible for their own actions. I also do not believe that the principals are good at pushing our children to reach their ultimate potential. They do not believe in a strong work ethic and I do not want those lazy bad habits taught to my child.

This school is horrible because of its principal Ms. Tran. She has no idea what student dicipline is. The kids at the school are out of control. This is her first year and you can definately tell. I have no idea how she was hired. She has no communication skills towards parents or from what I here, her staff. This school is not a good school because of its principal, PERIOD.

My children have attended Forman for almost 3 years now and we have both positive and negative experiences there. The Educators there seem to have a genuine love for the children and are dedicated to their education. However, because of various undisclosed reasons, they seem to have less than respectable discipline system and a serious lack of extra curricular activities for the children. The current prinicipal does not seem to engage parents when they have issues with the discipline system. Parental questions are almost ignored. Some front office staff memebers are seriously judgmental and condescending. If one can ignore those items, Forman is a GREAT place for a child to gain knowledge.

Forman has a very difficult task in educating and discipline because of such a wide variety of cultural, social, and economic differences. The leadership of the principal, ass't. principal and counselor are very effective in dealing with student learning and discipline. Teacher's work together as a team to help with the diversity they face. Great environment for learning and success. Parent participation is improving.

We feel very fortunate to have a school that the teachers have a geniune interest in the children. From the principal on down, they show the children acceptance and love. They also correct and guide the children from a negative way of acting or doing things to a positive way. We feel it is a very safe school. We love the Forman Eagles.

The school itself was wonderful. The teachers were great. I did not agree with the principal. And, no one from the district contacted me about the dispute. I pulled my children out and am now homeschooling them.

My children have attended Forman for several years. There is a general lack of accountibility for teaching students skills that are not part of the TAKS testing. Rote memory skills seem to be discouraged - Communication skills between the staff and parents seem to be lacking.

decent school, I don't like the security procedures (anybody can enter the school as long as they sign in, no questions asked!) Also there is a SEVERE lack of parking for the staff and any vistors.
