Farine Elementary School Reviews

My daughter has attended Farine since 3rd grade. She has always had wonderful teachers until she reached 5th grade. I am so glad this will be her last year there!

My daughter is in first grade and her second year in the dual language program. I am thrilled to have her learn a second language (Spanish) at such a young age. She is doing very well. Her teachers have been great working with my daughter as well as communicating with me as a parent. Overall, I have been pleased with her education at Farine.

Overall, my children have been very happy at Farine. The music, arts and humanities programs are outstanding. When we have had concerns, we received very strong support from the principals and counselors. My son has some unique mental challenges that can make it difficult for him to learn new tasks. The counselor has gone out of her way to guide us. With her help, my son has thrived here at Farine. We are deeply appreciative of all her efforts.

Farine Elementary is an awful school. My son who has always like school is at the point where he does not want to go school anymore. Zero Tolerance is unfortunately just a word at this school. If you can send your child somewhere else - do it. The only light in the dark is Ms. Medasani. She is a great teacher who has instilled a love for science in my son.

Not happy with this school. My kid enjoys music. Some teachers are very strict. And the school is not as clean and tidy as most Irving Schools. Nice Library.

My son attends Farine Elementary in Irving Texas, and I believe this school is a very good educational school. My son has really prospered at Farine since hes started there this year. I would recomend any parent to have their child attend Farine, because you would definitely get all the education you need to further your education.

When we placed our fifth grader in public school, I was somewhat relieved she would attend Farine. I went there as a child and remember the faculty as caring individuals who encouraged each child to do their best. Though faculty changed, the caring is still apparent. My only complaints- too much emphasis is placed on the state test and the children's attitudes. I have long believed that the knowledge needed for the tests should be incorporated into daily work, without specifying that the work is for TAKS. As for the attitudes of our children- we as parents are responsible. When getting parent involvement becomes difficult the children see it and interpret this as a reason not to care or participate in extracurricular activities. Farine is fine, which is a big step down from what it was. Those teachers who have been there for 20 years know what I mean.

My child attended Farine elementary last year for kindergarten. I was very impressed w/ her teacher and the school in general was very updated and clean. The faculty was always friendly. My only concern is the amount of money and extra attention that the English second language (ESL) children receive. I know my child was never given the oppurtunity to have only a few other students in her classroom whereas those children that are trying to learn English are given a special teacher and there are only a few other kids in the class. I wish that if the school was willing and able to teach a large majority of children English, that the school would then in turn teach my child another language as well. But overall I was very happy with my child's education.

starting dual language program this year 2005, should be positive. Alot of parental involvement, waiting to see results of latest test scores for academic rating.

My daughter attended Kindergarten at Farine last year. She is ADHD (diagnosed at the end of the school year), and the faculty was very helpful, but there were some definite communication breakdowns. Farine was actually a little slow to let me know that my daughter was having discipline problems to the extent that she was having. There were several instances where the office staff or her teacher neglected to let me know that she had been disciplined in class, been sent to the office and, at the end of the school year, actually suspended for one day. Forgetting to tell parents that their 5-year-old has been suspended is something that can't be overlooked! Academically, she did great, but you have to stay on the staff to keep you informed of how your child is doing. Good music, art and P.E. programs, too.

Farine is a good multi-cultural school. The teachers are well-trained and care a great deal about the students and their education. The Art and Music programs are both outstanding and well-led. The P.E. department provides good physical education and knowledge about exercise and well being. The parent's involvement is present but not represented by all levels of economics.

The school seems clean, orhanized and the children look happy. The only thing I did not like was the playground. Security is very high and the library is wonderful.
