Jackson Technology Center Reviews

i think this school is cool because the teachers actually tell you what they want you to do with your hw while the others schools really dont.

I'm going into 7th Grade at this school, and I can't believe I'm about to go to it again. I actually laugh that this school calls themselves a 'magnet' school. The kids use strong language in every sentence. Constant fights, stink bombs, the teachers couldn't care less. I'm terrified of this school and would not recommend it to anyone.

This school has a great fine arts department. In 2009,all departments recieved basically ones from uil competitions and great results were pouring in everywhere and every competitions. The choir department is great and just because they don't get as many awards does not mean they are not great. Their will is so amazing and mrs. Jagielski is so awesome. She deserves to get great results for another year. She makes students realize that it's not the score that matters. You're great mrs. J!

This school is a GREAT! It challenges students and I had a great time, except it could be a little bigger, the hallways are always cramped. I am just a normal kid and I think that if you love music and challenges this school is good!

Thank goodness this is our last year at this school. I am constantly amazed at how the teachers tattle on the students and when you help correct the problem and ask for an update they don't have time to tell you its better or thank you or answer in any way. The teachers are not on the same page about anything not standardized dress ,not cell phones or MP3's the teachers only see what they want to see and if something bad happens, surprise their cameras were not clear enough to see. Bad language and bulling is common and from time to time they have a student in an ankle braclet. If you are sending your student to Jackson because os the Science and Math it is not worth it find a school with honor classes and teachers that can control the class be fair and consistant and stay off THEIR cells

i think this is a great school because my son is really doing well there and I believe the teachers are doing their best to give him the very best

Well, I reviewed this school 5 years ago. My son still has great memories of that school. Mrs. Kathy Miller made a lasting impression on us. My son is now attending college, just turned 18 on Oct. 9, 2008 and graduated early from high school. I highly recommend this school. Mrs. Miller, God bless you and keep you. You are the best!

This is the best school ever it has great teachers

My son attended Jackson for 6th grade last year and did not come back this year. There was way too much bullying and not enough staff supervision in PE, the halls changing classes and in the lunchroom. He is now at Brandenburg and is thriving. At Jackson, he was just a number, a slot to fill in their MST program. I would not recommend this school to anyone.

JTC is the best middle school I ever went to! The staff is excelent, and they really made my learning experience wonderful. Atheltics was so loving, each girl and coach loved each other like family, and it so hard to leave. I wish that I could just bring the whole staff with me. =) I will never regret going to this school!

The Orchestra program at Jackson is AWESOME. Great teachers. No doubt. But the choir department lacks.

I'm a student at Jackson and I love it! Other than the standerdized dress, there usually aren't any big issues. They have a good athletic dept. and fun after-school programs. They also have fun field trips like six flags and NASA. This is my last year at jackson and I'm going to miss it!

well, jackson is kind of a poor rated school. its fun because the teachers are sometimes easy to walk all over, but i hate uniforms. amd i live how we have fun,,

I think that your school is one of the best schools. The teachers take the time the students and that is the most important thing that I look for thank you Jackson staff for all that you do to make our school great. :)

im a student at jackson technology center and i love my teachers and friendds i realy learn and i have ab honor roll thanks to the teachers

This was my childs first year here and she will not be back. If there is an issue brought to the Principals attention and he doesn't want to handle it he passes it on to the Assistant. Well she has a habbit of forgetting or putting aside the problem and therefore it is never taken care of until you constantly remind her. I question the safety of my child in there hands. Matters are not taken serious. I get the impression that they are in way over their heads. We have had several on going problems with a teacher and it has never been taken care of or a solution offered. I am not happy at all with Jackson and its so called leader ship. Then there is the uniforms which I am all for but only certain teachers inforce. So they are confused at what is acceptable or not.

I am a parent of an 8th grader at Jackson and carefully considered my options for his 7th and 8th grade sschool. I am very HAPPY I decided to take a chance with this program. I have found his teachers are more then happy to discuss his grades and keep me informed on how he is doing. I email them every month and have let them feel free to alert me if a problem arises. The office staff is very friendly and never makes me feel like I am a meddling parent. There are more than a handful of this staff I would like to move onto high school with us. I will miss them tremendously!

Man I think this school is pretty darn good. I don't know if everyone agrees with me about it but that's my opinion and that's theirs. I'm an 8th grader right now and the teachers i've ever had are great and I'm actually learning. What a surprise? Not really. Kids don't get beat up everyday like some may think. Fights don't always break-out every day either. Some of the clubs are pretty great. I'm in athletics and it's really fun. Some great friends.

I was invited to this school because of my grade average, and now I am sorry I ever accepted. fights break out in the lunch line and all the sudden the teacher is busy, stink bombs are constently being activated, thier security cameras never see anything, and kids walk out the front doors of the school in the middle of the day in full view of teachers. this is supposed to be a magnet school?, I don't think so.

Overall we think the school is good. Areas of improvement are: 1. Improve the instructions for first day of classes ie what items/supplies to bring and to where. 2. Some teachers fail to log in completed work for grades causing errors in grading. 3. Athletics information is scarce for all programs, ie, where and when practice is and when over to ensure adequate pickup. 4. It is extremely hard for parents to keep up with their childs assignments resulting in lots of frustration-yes the student should know their assignments, however, that's not always the case and the school should want the parents involvement, not just after the fact. 5. We joined PTA but never get informed of anything they do.

I love this school. Besides the strictness on uniforms. But overall, its the best. And I regret moving.

I feel they move too quickly through curriculum not giving it a chance to sink in or prove its relavancy to the students.Security is the best I have ever seen,I know my child is being cared for and his safty is paramount to the staff.I cant say anything for the meals...we pack his lunch.Atheletic programs are ok..All in all, we would rather have our child in a magnet school then a regular school

i honestly love this school. it has a wonderful curriculum, great teachers and a diverse collection of students.

I think Jackson is the best school ever I loveit.I The teachers and staff they are great.I had to move and I hated to have to move to a different school because their is no better.

Jackson Technology Center strives to provide quality learing for a diverse range of students. New state requirements have been addressed, communications infrastructure has been implemented and the staff is composed of a mix of new and veteran career instructors.

There are after school programs and alternate language classes such as Spanish and ESL. Any grade can take Choir, Orchrestra, Theatre Arts, Art, Spanish, or band. 7th and 8th grades can take Athletics and play on sport teams which include, girls and boys basketball and track and field, girls vollyball and cheerleading, and boys football. Throughout the year there are dances and fundraisers that parents can help out with.

I am not pleased about this school whatsoever. My child had to move schools, just to start enjoying his childhood. This school has the least class of people ever. There is so much teasing, bullying, and I was sick of my child coming home from school in tears because of the workload and how his fellow classmates treated him. The staff never took action of any sort. It was just awful. I also felt that my child was not secure whatsoever. Everytime in the car-pull line I see nothing but juveniles flashing gang symbols and just could tell that they did not come from a well balanced home.

The math and science magnet program is very good. The robotics and forensics teams went to state to compete against high schools!

I am a Student at Jackson Middle School. I think Jackson should be rated the best middle school in Garland, Tx. The teachers have helped me in many of ways. The athletic Dept is very good. The staff at Jackson is great. I love this School.

This is the best middle school my son has attended. He has also been in the Richardson schools--we were not impressed by them. Garland has good schools and this is definitely among the top 3 in my opinion. The teachers are all willing to do what it takes to get the kids performing at their best. I am very impressed by Mrs. Miller's (MST Science) willingness to go the extra mile to get my son the help he needs to excel in her class. Way to go, Mr. Cozby, you've got a winning staff there!
