John Paul II High School Reviews

as a former student i can honestly say it was an amazing experience and i believe it is an amazing school. 5 stars. the teachers are truly there to teach and not to just get paid. i am now a proud allumni if Jp2 and i am attending princton university. Jp2 has well prepared me for the rest of my life.

Our son has just finished 4 years at JPII. It has been a most amazing experience not only for him but for our entire family. If you are willing to be involved in your child's life, you will find many wonderful families who will become friends for life. Our son excelled academically, athletically and spiritually at JPII. We have been blessed to have been a part of the beginning of this high school. Mr. Poore is an outstanding, dedicated leader who has made this school possible. There have been, and continue to be, many generous parents who have given of their time, treasure and talents to get to this point. The laptops are a reality of life and many public school friends are envious of the fact our child has been exposed to technology at this level. We highly recommend JPII!

Strongly recommend this school. The teachers are outstanding, and the technology program is a real asset to the curriculum - great strides have been made in this area. I am extremely pleased with the balance of the spiritual, academics, and extra-curriculars.

I have been involved with school since it's opening 4 years ago and still have children at the school. We have had an overall great experience - but not without some bumps in the road. The quality of the education is exceptional and your child can learn at the highest level in the AP courses. The college prep curriculum is rigorous yet fair. Extracurricular activities are improving each year as the school matures. I find the teachers/coaches to be well trained, caring and fair. The school's leadership under Mr. Poore has been exceptional. I am not extremely active at the school, but have not had any negative experiences with any parent. Overall - very good to excellent. The only criticism I have is that expense $$$, poorly run development dept. and less than expected assistance with college guidance counseling.

I went to JPII until '08. The school is filled with great, knowledgeable teachers. It is a wonderful opportunity for any child, but only if they are willing to work. You have many privileges by attending this school, but you also have a lot of responsibility. The only kids that complained about going to JPII were spoiled brats that never experienced anything other than private school, so before listening to any bad rep, make sure you know who is talking. But yes, it's a wonderful school, and I recommend it for anyone, no matter what religion. Every race and religion is accepted.

As a former student, I had a ton of problems with this school and would not recommend it to anyone. Average teachers, subpar administration and sports programs and a not very diverse, cliquish student body.

My daughter graduated from JPII and was well prepared for college. Most of the teachers were excellent. The counseling department needs some work. I think the student body will get better every year, but for the first few years there were a lot of troubled kids.

Awesome location. Amazing facilities and adding more every year. (go check out the new football field and track) Technology is top notch! Prepares students well for college. Amazing front office staff. Great teachers. Outstanding principal! Great coaches. Watch JPII for more and more future successes and greatness. The other private schools in the Dallas area better watch out...JPII is on the rise!

Our son was accepted to the 'other' 2 Catholic High Schools in Dallas and he chose JPII. That says a lot. Great school with amazing potential to be even greater. Very new (only 3+ years old) and already doing great. Awesome location. Parents are plugged into the school and teachers and staff are great. JPII IS the school of the future in Dallas. only a few negatives.... Mandatory lap tops and athletes are not allowed to overlap sports.

Been there for 3 years and LOVE IT! Dedicated teachers and staff. Dedicated coaches. Great parents. Students are involved in the community. Mr. Poore is awesome! Well worth the money! We will have 2 kids there next year. Great school!

JPII is a very good school. We have been happy there for the last 3 years. Lap tops are a reality today and JPII does a great job of keeping them safe and blocking any illicit web sites while they are on school property . What your kids do in your home with their computer is really up to you. The sports are getting better every year and the coaches are dedicated. Teh WILL be a powerhouse in time. Counseling and preparing for college need to start earlier. (sophomore year) The building is beautiful and the new football field and track will be really nice. the classes and teachers prepare the kids very well for college. Overall...JPII is a very good school. We are lucky to be there. The brightest star at JPII??? Mr. Poore. You will NOT find a more dedicated and upstanding man in Dallas schools.

JPII is a good school. It is new so it is still adjusting to the demands of change. Mr. Poore is an outstanding principal! Coaches are good and dedicated to making the athletics great. That WILL come in time. Most of the teachers are good with the exception of a few. Counseling dept needs some fixing. Building is beautiful and new. Office staff is great! Many clicks within the student body and parents.

One huge draw back for JPII are the Lap Tops. They are not optional so if you do not want your 14 year old to have a $2000 lap top and unlimited access to the internet...you are out of luck. The Principal is a wonderful man who cares a lot about JPII and has worked very hard to make it a success. We agree...lots of strong clicks among the students and parents. Athletics will be good there in the near future. Very good coaches. Teachers are good with the exception of a few which is pretty typical with any school these days. The counseling dept needs some major overhauling. Many students don't meet with their counselor until Junior year. Counseling staff waits way too long to kick start college plans. Very expensive.

We agree! Mandatory lap tops are a definite negative at JPII. (we actually hate them) They are way more expensive than anything we would have chosen for our son and they do very little actual school work on them. Principal is outstanding, Offic staff is great, teachers are 'ok'. We also agree...many strong clicks among the students and parents. Athletics will come along in time.

The biggest issue we have with JPII is the MANDATORY $2000 lap tops! (plus a $300 technology fee) We have been there from the beginning of the school and the lap tops are the bane of our son' existence! They are used for playing video games, my space, face book and looking at very inappropriate things on the internet. Don't let anyone tell you differently. Teachers are 'ok' but not the greatest. Athletics are coming along and they will be very good in several years. Many many clicks within the students AND the parents.

The caliber of the teachers and staff at JPII is what automatically attracted me to the school. Subsequently, as a student, I realized that the learning environment at John Paul II is one that truly fosters individual growth and academic ability. The most profound positive aspect is the Catholic Christian morality that is taught and experienced within the school's walls. The value of all students is respected, and we are all encouraged to achieve our absolute best!

This is an excellent school. The acedemics are amazing, the courses offered are fantastic, and the teachers really put their efforts into their jobs.

I find John Paul to be an excellent learning environment for my child. It is certainly an academic challenge but not one that can't be met by the average and above student. The teachers are fair and the administration is supportive. As a new school, we find that the extra curricular activities are not as plentiful as an established school but they've improved every year.
