Harmony Science Academy -Dallas Reviews

i love this school and its only my first year im in 6th grade and the teachers are all great all of them care about yo;ur future and want to help you

This school reminds me alot like private school. The teacher are very involved & do care about the students. My daughter is going on her 4th year and very pleased. It takes me about 45 minutes but i am glad to make the sacrifice. Public school made my child feel like she was not smart had no self esteem. This school believe in her & the skills she had within. I am a parent involved in her studies and can tell you i have easily communicate with the teachers by phone, email or any other forms of means. I can keep up with everything she has done that day on line. This school is one of the best. My daughter is an 11th grader lookin forward to her senior year

HSA Dallas has a wonderful atmosphere with intelligent teachers. they have already got Nobel Price from me... I am impressed with their advocation and respectfulness

This is a good school with a focus on Math and Science. They have been quite resourcesful in teaching. There have been real improvements in our son's grades. His teachers are really trying their best to teach.

I am going to be very honest. I have attended Harmony since its opening and i am tired. Some of the staff members are excellent teachers(especially the high school English and social studies departments)and some teachers I wonder how they have a high school diploma. The administration focuses too much on TAKS scores instead of getting the students to a decent college. Teachers are very unapriciated for their hard work. The administration is very unresponsive and does not support their students. The administration does not realize they have intelligent students. This school would be a great success if it wasn't for the horrible administration.

I am very happy that my kids attend this school. I love everything about this school. It is a great school

Coming from a low performance school, this is the best school my children have gone to. The teachers are friendly, they care about the students academic scores, and are very informative. This school has alot of different extracurricular activities. This school has alot of potential.

I really like this school and that is a successful school. For sure, send your children.

I was a student at Harmony Science Academy-Dallas. I was absolutely ecstatic when I found out that I was accepted. The brochure made it sound like the Shangri-La of all schools. Turns out that the administration are great liars. Crowded, terrible lunches, awful teachers (who you couldn't understand most of the time), terrible curriculum, confusing schedule that changes every few weeks. Definitely think twice before forcing your child to go to this school. It could save them from a world of trouble.

The school decided to take away credits from the students. We were give 0.50 at the begining of the school year and now they removed it and gave us 0.25 for electives. I dropped from 9.50 to 7.25 credits. How could they give us something then taken it away? I honestly think that the staff is good. ( Ms Ovesen is probably the most dedicated)The teachers really care about the students but the administration is horrible. They should pay more attention to AP and Extra curricular classes instead of the TAKS.

I was happy when my child got accepted into Harmony Science Academy because i thought that i have found the perfect school for her. I was deeply upset and outraged when i found out what was really going on in the school, the school has practically no sports, not many activities for the students, and their grades and credits have been messed with a lot of times. The administrators have been rescheduling the students schedules so many times for mindless and umimportant things like TAKS tutoring three times a week and I advise other parents to pick a better school for their child.

I was initially excited when my child was recruited by Harmony Science Academy. From my experience, follow-through and feedback is almost non-existent. They are not consistent with their policy and procedures and Administration makes changes to the policies when it is convenient for them. Had experiences where my child was not given accurate grades because of lost work by teachers (after research, credit was eventually given - happened twice). I also think more diversity within the Teaching staff is needed.

My experience at Harmony Science Academy is a bad one. THis school does not have any advanced courses except one AP class and by next they are only going to have 6. The school does not provide any musical acticivities like orchestra or band. Despite what their brochure told me they only have 3 sports which are not even varsity. Harmony does not understand the importance of extracurricluar activities. The school is mostly populated by foreign teachers which are difficult to understand and they have poor teaching techniques. The school provides tutoring but only TAKS tutoring guarantees teacher assistance other forms of tutoring include sitting in front of a laptop and working on a mathematics program. Parental involvement is almost non existent. The school is not as safe as it seems. I am very unsatisfied.

My first year at Harmony made me feel horrible. The school was very disorganized, and the teachers were poor quality. Over the three years I have attended this school, it has dramatically changed. Very Structured school, devoted teachers. Every year Harmony improves. Teachers are so devoted. I see them still in the building after 8:00 PM and on Weekends. I am so happy to be a student here. I used to think of dropping out, but now this school has taught me how important school is and I have been improving academically. Already in my freshman year I have been looking into college. If you want a school with high standards...this is the perfect school. Like any other school, it has its things to work out, but I highly recommend it.

I fell this is an excellent school. My daughter is in the 'A' group, which is wonderful. I was a little skeptical at first, but she has managed to adjust well. If you are serious about your child education and college future. I would strongly suggest HSA. Like all new schools they have some kinks to work out, but over all I would stay they are Great. The Quality of academic programs and teacher involvement is awesome. However the lunch menu is a little less desired. I would recommend to feed your child a balance breakfast and dinner at home. The school is great if you want a good college education for you (or your child). The teachers are dedicated, they are at the school even on saturdays. I am very happy with my friends and teachers. I recommend it to everyone.

Having had children in public schools for over twenty years, the individual attention and true sense of caring that our daughter receives from her teachers at Harmony Science Academy goes unmatched compared to the oft overcrowded public school sector. Our daughter has made many friends from among her classmates. We are also very pleased with the high academic standards and challenging instruction provided to the students. Mike and Martha Dollar

When you first get the brochure for Harmony, you think you have found heaven of schools, until reality slaps you. They say they have all of these amazing classes and courses that regular schools don't offer and they do. If the student is in one of the A-B classes 'oh yeah they use the letter scale system. A-Smartest B-Smarter C-Not so smart & D-Everybody gets a chance.' The other way for your child to participate in any extra curricular activities is if your paying $100 a month. $50 for study hall and $50 for beyond the bell. Yes they are an Exemplary school. They weed it out before your accepted. My child went in there as an honor student; I am pulling her out and back into DISD failing. It could be my child, although she has always been a tag student. It could be the school, I'll know pretty soon.

A very structured school that will not tolerate behavior that is out of control. Kids can do very well there and the principal is serious about learning. There is a higher teacher turnover that will hopefully even out over time. Classroom size is slightly larger than the average. Tutoring is available for kids and this helps a lot. This school has kinks to work out but lots of potential if it keeps going in the direction it is heading.

This school is ok. Is a little too the extrame on disipline

I enrolled my 2 children (daughter-9th grade, son 8th grade) and It seems to me that the more I get this school the more disappointed I am about certain things as far lunch and nutrition and the quality of teachers and staff. My oldest has difficutly understanding with a several of her teachers because of their accent. As far as food, my kids are not getting a good lunch meal. Although, I was informed that they do have a catering service but it's still not the same... Anyway, I suggest you really into the school before you enroll your child at this school.
