Rosemont Elementary School Reviews

Teachers are excellent! Only thing is it caters to non english speaking children. When questioned about it no answers ever given

Wow! Rosemont has done so much for my children. My kindergartener was reading, really reading, by December. The parent involvement is amazing. The administration is responsive to needs of parents and students. The teachers are dedicated beyond belief by spending their own time and money teaching our children. Thank you, Rosemont, for being a standout neighborhood elementary school within DISD-a district that is becoming one of magnets and specialty schools.

My children and I are very happy at Rosemont. At our other school, we were so unhappy that it was a constant battle just to make them go to school. Now they love it so much they have perfect attendance. There are always flyers being sent home about some extra-curriculum activity or another plus various field trips/school events. Not only am I involved but I want to be involved. I have no shortage of suggestions of activities for my kids. Plus due to the hard work and attention of the teachers, my kids grades and scores are high. Principal is friendly and approachable.

It is a good school. My daughter studies in Rosemont and her teacher encourage her to read a lot plus they take children to theaters, museums, the zoo and some other places to make more interesting to learn.

When my daughter started attending rosemont her reading level was very low. But now she has been attending rosemont for more than 2 years and she was able to pass her reading task test. She also has adhd and all of rosemonts staff has helped me with my daughters behavior problem including the principal she is a great principal. If parents would put their 50% by helping their kids at home and encourage kids to read more maybe they wont blame the teachers and principals.

I am reading these reviews hoping to hear something positive. We are finishing our first year at Rosemont and I have yet to see anything worth staying for. There is no communication between the staff and parents, there are no extracurricular activities (I'd like to know what the 2/11/08 review is involved in?) and the curriculum is more appropriate for my 3 year old. We are truly considering moving unless something drastic changes. Please share your positive stories. I love our neighborhood and want so much to like and support this school.

I am very pleased with Rosemont. My son has gone the last 3 years. I am impressed with the teachers and their desire to really help the kids achieve. There is plenty of extra curricular activities as well.

Great school. With good teachers nice principal.Good academically

To all interested parents: Rosemont is a strong urban elementary school characterized by dedicated teachers; a tireless, involved administration; and ever-increasing participation by the ENTIRE Kessler/Winnetka/North Oak Cliff community. Check it out! (Now where are those yard signs so I can brag that my child is at ROSEMONT?)

We voted with our feet, pulled our kid out and moved on to a better environment. Many of the classroom teachers are good, but they have no leadership, so the education ends up haphazard- maybe you get it, and maybe you don't. If you have a choice, go elsewhere. If not, get involved and make the best of it.

DISD settles for mediocre when it comes to administration. The principal knows much about self promotion and little about true education. The mantra around Rosemont is 'if we get rid of her, we might get somebody worse.' Thank goodness for the dedicated teachers who work through the low morale to educate children. Keep it up, someday a decent educator will again be in charge.

Congratulations on becoming a recognized campus! The teachers and staff proved they can go the extra mile. When everyone works together all children succeed!

Rosemont is riding on its reputation from the 80s and 90s, but it's not the same school anymore. The campus is split in two. The principal of the lower school, Claudia M, puts her own political agenda over the kids education. The school has many special programs with high paid teachers who don't teach. Instead of teaching the kids, the faculty is forced to teach the test.

My children have attended Rosemont for years and I am saddened by the decline in academics and discipline in the last few years. There is absolutely no structure or consistency due to lack of leadership. We were happy to hear we will get a new principal this year on the lower campus, but the upper campus will still suffer from the low teacher morale and complete lack of a discipline policy. Just because we are an inner city public school, I refuse to accept mediocrity and the prevailing attitude at the school of 'it could be worse.' The apathy is as troubling as the poor leadership. After years of being an advocate for the school, I can no longer recommend Rosemont to anyone who has a choice.

I have put one child thru and have two more still attending Rosemont Elementary. I have had a great experience there and so have my children. This school still feels like the old neighborhood schools of the 50's. There is alot of parent involvement and I really like that. I feel that my children have received a well rounded education at Rosemont.

Overall we have enjoyed our 4 years at Rosemont, although we have had a hit and miss experience with teachers. Two of our years we've had absolutely outstanding teachers. The TAG program is not strong enough. Good arts programs. Good afterschool programs.

great school, my child attended for 3 years. The teachers are outstanding.

Rosemont is a great neighborhood school. There is a lot of diversity and parent support. Academically it works well for most of the students. However, students with learning differences do not get the support they need. My children did enjoy attending there.

My child will be going into the 2nd grade this August at Rosemont and she has been very happy for the last 2yrs. The staff teachers and Principal are very caring. They have a great after-school program which is extremely helpful for working parents. Looking forward to another great year at Rosemont Elementary!!!

Lots of great extracurricular options; good teachers at almost every grade level if you get involved. Active PTA.

Rosemont is an excellent school. We are so fortunate to have such an outstanding school in our neighborhood. The teachers and parents partner to ensure each child's academic success. Additionally, the Fine Arts and Sports programs are incredible.

I had the privilege to manage the construction at Rosemont Elementary last summer and would like to share my experience at Rosemont with others. The construction and the scheduled completion date were extremely difficult to achieve but the entire staff at Rosemont treated my team like family and rolled out the red carpet in assisting us during the construction phase. I particularly noticed the attention the Rosemont staff paid in instilling good behavior and manners in the children. With the large number of children at Rosemont the classrooms were always under control, there was no graffiti on walls, and the children were terrific when going to recess, lunch or different classes. The greatest thing that I observed was a level of caring and love for the students with special needs from the staff as well as the other students. That alone should set the standard for all of DISD. -Construction.

We cannot say enough positive things about Rosemont! We have been amazed at all of the opportunities this school offers its students. The teachers we ve worked with have been top-notch and the principal, Anna Brining, is an outstanding leader with extraordinary vision. She is supportive, hands-on and knowledgeable. She knows most kids by name and always takes the time to discuss whatever is important. I have never been to the school without seeing her in action doing whatever she can to improve the school even more. The level of parent involvement is also impressive. Rosemont is an excellent, multicultural environment for any child.

Rosemont has great potential and serious problems. Two words describe the principal: unorganized and self centered. The library is not checking out books and the computer center is not functional. In October! But, ask her, she'll say Rosemont is the best school in the district. Educators all over the country know the reputation of DISD. This is just another example of DISD protecting bad administrators.

This is a great website. I've had no place to voice my frustration and concern. It's so good to see someone speaking out about this principal. She talks about learning, but pushes faculty to teach the state test. Weak leadership has meant no underlying vision of why we educate or what should be taught. There is no unifying theme to connect various subject matters. No historic sense to connect past, present and future-- Just an endless stream of the next curriculum that will fix everything and high-profile but 'empty' special programs, arts, dance, etc. And, of course, 'we're the best' speeches. In reality, bright students are not properly challenged, and challenged students do not develop fundamental skills. It's a sad state for an old school with strong tradition. My kids have moved on. We're happy in our new home, but worried for our old one.

Rosemont Elementary has been a great school for my children. It provides a challenging academic curriculum in a diverse and supporting environment. Most of the teachers are outstanding and when I have had concerns they were addressed promptly. The principal is always willing to listen and is supportive of the community.

My kid goes to Rosemont. Ms. Br***** is the principal. She has a big ego. She does not send troublemaker kids to special schools, she keeps them at Rosemont. Even the bad ones. She does not support her ass't principal. She allows tons of 'pet' kids from outside of DISD to go to the school.

The only thing that holds this school back, is the catering by the staff and faculty, to the kids in the 'in-crowd'. The parents are very clique-ish and this attitude carries over to the faculty and student body. The principal has her hands full with all the PTA politics and actually handles it quite well. Unfortuately, prejudices abound here, and I am not talking about racial tension, it is more an obsession with the 'cool-factor'. I think the faculty is just reflecting the type of expectations they are getting from the parents.

I have a child entering 2nd grade and one entering Kinder this year. I love Rosemont and couldn't have hoped for a better public school experience. While annoyed by PTA politics and sometimes feeling excluded due to my career choices (10 hour days limit my availability to volunteer), I have been nothing but pleased with the teachers and the attention my child has received. The extracurricular activities and the level of academic expectation are outstanding. My husband has not been happy with the amount of homework, which he feels is too much for the age group, but I feel it is good preparation for future requirements. When we moved to the area we'd been seriously shopping for private schools, but at the urging of a neighbor decided to check out Rosemont, and we haven't regretted it.

Wow I really enjoyed my time at Rosemont. I graduated from there in the 01-02 school yaer. This is an outstanding school. Caitlin
