Merrywood School Reviews

My family loves Merrywood. My son reading has improved greatly and he is very excited about going to school to learn more everyday. The faculty is wondering and I love they are putting the kids education first. Thanks again for all of your EXCELLENT WORK with my son.

I am so thankful for the educational experience my children received at Merrywood. Not until entering the public school system did I realize the level of education that my girls received at Merrywood. Each child learns to achieve their personal best, advancing at an amazing pace without even realizing it. The teachers captivate the students with memorable stories that stay with them long after Merrywood. Students also learn respect and character building behavior, exemplified by the stellar staff. The standards are HIGH, but the 'pressure' is NOT. The students WANT to learn. They have a very sophisticated reward system that recognizes achievement and inspires accomplishment. My 8th grader remembers stories & songs she learned from Mrs. Williams in Kinder!! My girls were two grade levels ahead when they entered public school. Merriwood provides a solid & wonderful foundation to build onto throughout the following years. Thanks!

I have two children who attend Merrywood and I can't say enough about how good this school. Great teachers and great balance between nurture and discipline. Academically both kids are a grade level ahead.

I am happy with everything I have seen so far, and my daughter can't stop talking about her teacher each year. We are very pleased.

For my child this was the absolute best choice I could have made. Mrs. Ogden from day one showed us the attention that makes this school the very best.

My seventh grader spent his elementary school years at Merrywood (K-6). Mrs. Ogden and Mrs. Williams shape the 'entire' student. The teachers are dedicated and caring. All grade levels have an accelerated course of study. Academicly, students are ahead of their peers in public schools. You won't find a better private school in southwest Dallas county.

Excellent school! I cannot say enough positive things about this school. There is no better school in SW Dallas County for preschool through 6th grade. Most of the staff have been teaching their entire lives and utilize a traditional approach to academics, stressing reading, writing, and arithmetic. They have transferred a love of reading to my son and he consistently scores in the top 5% for his grade level on nationwide standardized examinations. They have also emphasized a respect for authority and fellow students. When I drop my son off there each day, I feel peace knowing that he will receive quality instruction by seasoned, mature teachers that understand their role. Contrary to what I saw on this website, the school is not religiously affiliated. It is run by several ladies who have dedicated their lives to excellence in teaching and learning. I receive weekly emails from my son's teacher.

The level of one-on-one interaction is second to none in this private school. All 3 of my children have attended and loved being a part of it. It is a wonderful facility and the teachers are outstanding. The only downside that I have ever seen is the seemingly low level of technological interface, i.e. the children do not use computers in the classrooms. But beyond that, it has been a tremendous asset for our kids.
