Jeff Stachowski is one of a very small number of Dallas artists working in encaustics, which is a mixture of powdered pigment, natural beeswax and dammar resin.

His art uses encaustics as a metaphor for life. Because the wax is worked in a molten state, there is always an underlying element of randomness in each piece. Colors blend in swirls and eddies forming shapes and textures, which are open to interpretation by the viewer. 

When creating his art, Jeff refers to his belief that everything is in a state of transition or flux. Time, distance, emotion and perception affect every thing in the universe, but everything in the universe is made of smaller things each with space between those as well.

In art, just as in life, we only have the illusion of total control over the end result. There are always factors beyond our control and influence affecting every outcome. 

Jeff not only creates his own art, he also makes his own encaustic media from beeswax, dammar resin and hand ground dry pigment. This ensures that each piece or art is a completely personal and unique experience.

The artist grew up in south Florida and moved to Texas in 1991. A happily divorced father of one, he now lives in East Dallas with a lunatic cat named Enaz.

Besides creating works in encaustic, his creative spirit manifests itself in oil and acrylic painting, computer graphics and playing the guitar. 

When not painting or making music, he is likely to be found solving the Worlds problems at the Cavern or the Slip Inn over a Skyy vodka (or several).
